Therapeutic Background and Experience

I've been privileged to work with people as a Clinical Psychologist for over 15 years. I have been a member of the Australian Psychological Society with a specialty in Clinical Psychology since 2003. Most recently I've worked in private practice in Hong Kong, seeing adolescents and adults from an international community. As a Clinical Psychologist in private practice I saw those struggling with depression, anxiety, pre and post natal issues, work stress, self harm and trauma.

Prior to this I worked in Sydney in private practice, again seeing those of all ages with a broad variety of mental health concerns. I also worked as part of a an Adolescent Mental Health Team, providing therapy for those with significant mental health concerns. For a period of time I developed my own business supporting families with their children with mental health and behavioural challenges in their homes.

This followed on from years in London working with experienced teams in the areas of child and adolescent mental health along with young offenders and older adults.

I started my career working in Adelaide supporting children with special needs and their families in child care centres across the south of the city.

This diverse background and varied work environment has provided me with a broad range of therapeutic experiences.

What does Clinical Psychology Involve?

It can be a little overwhelming when first making an appointment with a Clinical Psychologist. It can help to have a clear picture of what to expect.

At your first appointment I will spend some time getting some basic information from you with a few forms and then we will work together to discover what you would like support with and how you would like to feel different. We will come up with a plan to work towards this. This usually involves weekly appointments in the short term.

Each appointment lasts for 50 minutes.

Please feel free to contact me via  email at any stage to make an appointment.

I work from a cognitive behavioural perspective, but also draw on experience in a range of therapeutic techniques. These include schema therapy, positive psychology and dialectical behavioural therapy. As our work together evolves I integrate the best approach for you and your goals. I will spend time explaining theory and processes in the sessions.
